Slovak Open Science Forum

Konferencia otvorenej vedy prináša najnovšie informácie z rôznych oblasti otvorenej vedy, medzi ktoré patrí napríklad otvorený prístup k výskumným informáciám, manažment výskumných dát, hodnotenie vedeckej činnosti či občianska veda.

Informácie sú určené vedeckej a akademickej obci, akademickým knižniciam, ale aj študentom a verejnosti.

Konferencia sa koná v anglickom jazyku a prezentujúcimi sú prevažne zahraniční odborníci z oblasti otvorenej vedy.

The conference brings the latest information in different areas of open science, including open access to research data, research data management, research assessment and citizen science.

The information is aimed at the scientific and academic community, academic libraries, as well as students and the public.

The conference is held in English, and the presenters are mostly international experts in the field of open science

Anna Walek

Dr Anna Wałek is Head of Technology at OAPEN and DOAB, where she leads the strategic development of open research infrastructure, metadata services, and interoperability initiatives supporting the global dissemination of Open Access monographs. She is a recognised international leader in Open Science and research infrastructures. Her extensive experience, ranging from leading digital transformation initiatives in academic libraries and research institutions across Poland and the UAE to contributing to international initiatives such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and OPERAS, provides her with a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the evolving research ecosystem. Combining strategic leadership with hands-on experience in building trusted scholarly infrastructures, her work focuses on interoperability, metadata, research assessment, open access, and the future of scholarly communication. A former President of IATUL (International Association of University Libraries) and a member of national and international boards, advisory groups, and committees, she continues to contribute actively to collaborations and initiatives advancing Open Science, trusted research infrastructures, and scholarly communication worldwide.

Paolo Manghi

Bio: Paolo Manghi is a senior researcher in computer science at the Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazione (ISTI) of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Pisa, Italy. Since January 2009, he has been serving as the Chief Technology Officer at OpenAIRE AMKE. In this capacity, he plays a critical role in vision-making, technical roadmapping, and coordinating the OpenAIRE portfolio of Open Science services, above all the OpenAIRE Graph. He also ensures these services are integrated, aligned, and integrated with global scholarly communication service providers, European research infrastructures and einfrastructures, and the European Open Science Cloud. As part of his activities, he has played a coordination role in several H2020 projects, including EOSC Beyond, OSTrails, FAIRCORE4EOSC, EOSC-Beyond, EOSC-Future, etc.., and covers technical responsibilities for the EOSC EU Node and the EOSC Scholarly Commons Node.

Andrej Gogora

Andrej Gogora, PhD, is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Research Collections Department at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and also serves as the National Coordinator for DARIAH-SK. He specializes in humanities research data management and digital curation. His applied work drives the development of robust research infrastructures, specifically focusing on thematic text and image collections in ethnography.

Hanna Gaweł

Hanna Gaweł, PhD, is an academic at the Institute of Information Studies, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. Her research sits at the intersection of information ecology, alternative scholarly communication, and digital infrastructures. Her current work investigates open distribution models—particularly preprint ecosystems and independent academic archiving—focusing on how researchers can leverage open infrastructures to foster rapid, autonomous, and transparent knowledge exchange.

Maria Kadlec Markova

Maria Kadlec Markova joined SpringerNature team in October 2019 as a Sales director for Central and Eastern Europe, in year 2020 took over also Central Asia countries. Maria has nearly 15 years of industry experience with a very strong background in the subscription business and long term cooperation with consortia and individual customers in the region.

Jozef Mišutka

Jozef Mišutka is a computer scientist with a PhD from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. From 2011 to 2024, he was CTO of LINDAT/CLARIN, later LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ, at the Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics, Charles University, working on its research data repository and related research infrastructure. From 2017 to 2023, he was a vice-chair of the CLARIN Centre Assessment Committee. He also contributed to working groups on persistent identifiers within CLARIN, at the national level in the Czech Republic, and in EOSC, as well as to the Czech EOSC working group on core services. He is a co-founder of dataquest, a company working with universities and research institutions on research repositories and the wider ecosystem of services around them. Together with colleagues at dataquest, he helped establish and continues to organise the Czech and Slovak DSpace User Group.

Kirill Ivanov

Kirill Ivanov joined Elsevier in February 2021. Since 2024 as Academic & Government Customer Success Manager his responsibility is to provide trainings, strategic consulting, and developing partnerships with users of Elsevier’s analytical, research, research management, and subject-specific solutions across countries of Central and Eastern Europe. In 2021-2023 as Research Intelligence Customer Consultant, he supported the company’s academic, corporate, and government customers of analytical solutions in Turkey, Western and Central Asia, and Eastern Europe with data solutions, strategic consulting, and staff training. Before joining Elsevier, Kirill was Lead Analyst at RAEX International Group.

Jitka Dobbersteinová

Jitka Dobbersteinová has been working in the field of academic libraries and information science since 2000. She worked as a library manager for the British Council Slovakia and as a freelance trainer in academic publishing. In recent years, she concentrates on the area of open science. At the beginning of 2019, she became a Head of the Department for the Support of Open Science in the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (SCSTI) in Bratislava. Since 2018, she has been actively involved in the OpenAIRE Advance project for the Slovak Republic. She is a Board Member of SPARC Europe. 

Venue

The Slovak Open Science Forum takes place at the Pálffy palace at 47 Zámocká street in Bratislava.

The Pálffy palace is located close to the Zochova bus stop and Kapucínska tram stop.
