Slovak Open Science Forum
Konferencia otvorenej vedy prináša najnovšie informácie z rôznych oblasti otvorenej vedy, medzi ktoré patrí napríklad otvorený prístup k výskumným informáciám, manažment výskumných dát, hodnotenie vedeckej činnosti či občianska veda.
Informácie sú určené vedeckej a akademickej obci, akademickým knižniciam, ale aj študentom a verejnosti.
Konferencia sa koná v anglickom jazyku a prezentujúcimi sú prevažne zahraniční odborníci z oblasti otvorenej vedy.
The conference brings the latest information in different areas of open science, including open access to research data, research data management, research assessment and citizen science.
The information is aimed at the scientific and academic community, academic libraries, as well as students and the public.
The conference is held in English, and the presenters are mostly international experts in the field of open science.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Iva Melinščak Zlodi is a senior scholarly communication librarian at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she leads the development of the institutional open access book platform FF Open Press. She has been involved in the establishment and development of the Croatian national journals platform Hrčak and the national repository network Dabar. She currently contributes to the DIAMAS and Knowledge Rights 21 projects and is active in the OPERAS community, where she co-chairs the Working Group on Open Access Business Models. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of SPARC Europe.

Hana Heringová leads the National Center for Persistent Identifiers, which has been operating under the Repository Center of the National Technical Library since 2023. She is the co-chair of the National Persistent Identifier Strategies Interest Group under the Research Data Alliance and the co-chair of the Community Engagement Expert Group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa of the DataCite registration agency.

Jan Černý‘s research activities cover topics on external data and information environment analysis of enterprises, early warning systems, surface web & deep web investigations, search strategy and tactics, and digital forensics. He also deals with public librarianship management, specifically on the role of libraries in today’s competitive environment. He is Prague University of Economics and Business fellow and researcher focused on the intelligence studies, particularly on the CI, TECHINT, OSINT domains.

Natascha Pargas is an Account Development Manager at Springer Nature, supporting librarians and institutions across Eastern Europe. With over eight years in academic publishing and a background in International Media and Entertainment Management, she specializes in building strong partnerships, delivering tailored solutions, and presenting insights that help libraries maximize the value of their resources. Her experience spans customer engagement, marketing and sales operations.

Michal Nemec graduated in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at Comenius University in Bratislava, where he focused primarily on contemporary topics. For eight years, he lectured an elective course at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, titled “Games and the Culture of the Digital Age.” He also worked for five years as a game designer. At present, he is with the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, where he specializes in electronic information resources, artificial intelligence and provides methodological support for academic institutions.

Katarína Skokanová is a doctoral student at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Her research in Slovakia examines citizen science from two perspectives: the engagement of schools and teachers in implementing citizen science with students, and the needs of organizations that lack scientific data on certain plant or animal species or ecological phenomena. She also aims to develop courses and educational materials to support teachers in integrating citizen science into their teaching.
VENUE

The Slovak Open Science Forum takes place at the Pálffy palace at 47 Zámocká street in Bratislava. The Pálffy palace is located close to the Zochova bus stop and Kapucínska tram stop.
