The EU’s Open Science Policy
Open Science is a priority for the European Commission and a benchmark in its research and innovation funding programmes, as it improves the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of science and research.
Fast dissemination of knowledge and data helps to spread the latest knowledge. If partners across academia, industry, public bodies and citizen associations participate in research, trust in science increases. Therefore, the European Commission requires grant beneficiaries to make their publications available in open access and make their data as open as possible and as closed as necessary. The Commission also values and rewards the participation of citizens.
